Spring Valley Fire Department

Operating as Department# 17, the Columbian Fire Engine Co# 1 (organized 1861), Spring Valley Hook & Ladder Co (organized 1903) & Rockland Hook & Ladder Co (organized 1908) respond jointly as the Spring Valley Fire Department. Operating from three stations, the department’s volunteers serve the Village of Spring Valley with Fire & Rescue protection. The department has operated a variety of classic fire apparatus over the years & currently utilizes an interesting blend of apparatus painted in the distinct colors of each company.

A rarity in the American fire service, this rig features a stowable rescue basket on the end of the aerial ladder & a unique operator’s pedestal not found on American made fire apparatus.

Engine 17-1750 -  2000 Spartan Gladiator/Saulsbury 1750 gpm/1000 gal.

Painted in a striking midnight blue, this rig features a Vista style cab with an enclosed top mount pump panel, a popular option commonly found on many engines throughout Rockland County.
