FIREMATIC HISTORY

Special thanks to Lt. Ben Lattanzio for his assistance in arranging my visit, positioning the apparatus for photos and providing background information on the department.

Engine 425 - 1989 Sutphen 1250 gpm/1000 gal.

Rescue 6 - 1999 KME 1750 gpm/750 gal.

As with many fire departments in Albany County, Menands operates a rescue pumper for their rescue responses. It is equipped with two pre-connected Holmatro extrication tools as well as a combi-tool.

One of twelve departments serving the Town of Colonie, the Menands FD provides Fire, Rescue and EMS First Response services (in conjunction with career Colonie EMS). Operating from a single station, 20 volunteers answer an average of 275 Fire and EMS alarms.

Menands also operates Truck 6, a 1984 Sutphen 100’ mid-mount elevating platform featuring a canopy cab.
